About the Role
Steelhaus Fabrications are looking for an experienced Laser Operator / Programmer with strong knowledge of AMADA laser machines and software. You will play a key role in producing precision‑cut components for heavy gauge steel fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and programme AMADA laser cutting machines
Prepare and optimise cutting programs using AMADA software (e.g., Dr.ABE, VPSS, or equivalent)
Set up materials, nozzles, lenses, and cutting parameters
Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
Carry out quality checks and ensure parts meet required tolerances
Routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment
Work closely with production to meet deadlines and workflow targets
Ensure safe working practices at all times
Requirements
✔ Proven experience operating AMADA fibre or CO₂ laser machines
✔ Ability to programme AMADA systems and optimise cutting paths
✔ Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication and material types
✔ Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
✔ Good eye for detail and high quality standards
✔ Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment
✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable
Experience with nesting software
Previous work in a steel fabrication environment
Forklift licence
Experience with additional machinery (press brake, deburrer, roller, etc.)
