The Inclusion Team within Thurrock Council's Children's Services are currently recruiting for an Access and Inclusion Support Officer.
As an Access and Inclusion Support Officer you will work closely with the Senior Access and Inclusion Officer and also other staff within Children's Services, schools and other external agencies to deliver support to schools, parents and pupils at risk of, or that have been, suspended or excluded from schools across Thurrock and also ensuring that the appropriate framework is put in place to ensure that we are providing quality provision for pupils at risk of missing education.
The ideal Access and Inclusion Support Officer will have:
- The ability to communicate at a high level in writing and verbally, tailored to a variety of audiences.
- The ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams to form effective partnerships, both internal and external.
- The ability to show empathy whilst dealing with people assertively and remaining calm and sympathetic.
- Experience of working in a school environment or with children and families in a different context.
- An understanding of the Admissions code Of practice, guidance on exclusions from schools and the equality practice in schools.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office and other windows or data base software systems.
