Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing team in the Roborough area of Plymouth. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering competitive pay, bonus potential, and overtime.

You will play a key role in maintaining, repairing, and improving production tooling, jigs, and fixtures - ensuring maximum performance, quality, and reliability across the shop floor.

Key Duties

  • Carry out reactive and planned tooling maintenance (press tooling, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts).

  • Design and build new jigs and fixtures.

  • Drive continuous improvement to reduce waste and maximise uptime.

  • Support new product introductions.

  • Work closely with Production and Maintenance teams.

  • Record maintenance activity via CMMS and manage spare parts.

Requirements

  • Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or Toolmaking.

  • Strong machining experience (CNC lathe, CNC mill, surface grinding).

  • Toolmaking experience within a machine shop environment.

  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong communication skills.

  • Desirable: CAD/3D modelling, tooling design, wire/spark erosion, TIG welding.
