Job Introduction
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Asset Manager to lead asset management across the HMRC West estate, supporting operational delivery for HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
This role is responsible for embedding a robust, data-led asset management strategy that maximises asset performance, lifecycle value and service reliability across a complex, multi-site government contract.
The Asset Manager provides strategic oversight of asset data, lifecycle planning, condition assessments and investment forecasting to ensure:
- Statutory compliance
- Operational continuity
- Long-term value for the client
- Effective risk management across critical assets
You will ensure asset management principles are embedded within operational and commercial decision-making, supporting Sodexo standards and aligning with a Zero Harm Mindset.
This role requires strong cross-functional leadership, analytical capability and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through data-driven insight.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and implement asset management strategies to optimise lifecycle performance, reliability and whole-life cost.
- Maintain and govern accurate asset registers, lifecycle models and condition data.
- Lead asset surveys, condition assessments and risk reviews.
- Analyse performance trends, maintenance history and failure data to identify optimisation opportunities.
- Ensure statutory compliance and industry standards are met across all asset categories.
- Embed risk-based asset management approaches aligned to criticality and service impact.
- Produce performance reports, lifecycle forecasts, investment cases and strategic recommendations.
- Lead governance and optimisation of asset management systems (CAFM), ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
- Collaborate with operational, technical, finance and commercial teams to align asset strategy with business objectives.
- Manage risks related to compliance, obsolescence and service continuity.
- Drive continuous improvement in asset modelling, reporting and decision-making frameworks.
- Promote a strong health, safety and Zero Harm culture within all asset management activities.
The Environment
HMRC West is a large, complex estate containing diverse and operationally critical assets including:
- Mechanical & Electrical systems
- Infrastructure and life safety systems
- Building fabric assets
Operational priorities include:
- Managing a large and varied asset portfolio across multiple sites
- Maintaining data integrity within CAFM and asset systems
- Balancing lifecycle investment with commercial constraints
- Managing statutory compliance and regulatory risk
- Identifying and mitigating risks linked to condition and obsolescence
- Supporting investment decisions through robust evidence and forecasting
What you bring:
- Proven experience in asset management within Facilities Management, Engineering or Technical Services.
- Strong understanding of asset lifecycle planning and whole-life costing principles.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance requirements within technical services environments.
- Experience using CAFM or asset management systems.
- Understanding of risk-based asset management methodologies.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrable experience developing asset strategies across multi-site portfolios.
- Strong analytical capability with experience interpreting performance and condition data.
- Experience developing investment cases and presenting to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to translate technical asset information into commercial insight.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across operational, commercial and client teams.
- Experience managing compliance risk and supporting audit processes.

- Experience within public sector or government contracts.
- Experience managing capital investment programmes.
- Advanced data analysis or reporting capability.
