Summary
Neway International are seeking a Childcare Worker to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Location: Gladstone Road, Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, CF63 1NH
Hours: 35 hours per week (8:45am–4:15pm), term‑time only
Start Date: 23 February 2026
Duration: Initially for 3 to 6 months likely to be extended after review.
Employment Type: Temporary
Rate: PAYE: £101.31 per day
Limited/Umbrella: £133.33 per day
About the Client
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Flying Start programme provides high‑quality early years support to children aged 2–3 and their families. The service works closely with parents, childcare teams, and wider professionals to promote children’s development, wellbeing, and school readiness within a safe, nurturing, and regulated childcare environment.
The Role
The Childcare Worker will support the delivery of high‑quality childcare within a Flying Start setting, acting as a key worker for a group of children and contributing to planning, development, and daily activities. The role involves close liaison with parents, colleagues, and partner agencies to ensure children’s needs are met in line with CIW standards.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality childcare for children aged 2–3
Act as a key worker, supporting individual care plans and wellbeing
Liaise with parents, carers, and wider professionals
Participate in planning and delivering developmental activities
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to CIW regulated childcare standards
Support monitoring and evaluation of the childcare setting
Attend training, supervision, and team meetings as required
Work flexibly across childcare/crèche settings when needed
Uphold safeguarding and public protection responsibilities
Take annual leave during school holidays only
Candidate Requirements
Experience working with young children in a childcare or early years setting
Understanding of child development and early years practice
Ability to build positive relationships with children and families
Flexible, reliable, and able to work across different settings
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Commitment to confidentiality and professional standards
Enhanced DBS covering both adult and child barred lists
Two references (one from most recent employer; personal reference also required)
Ability to explain any gaps in employment
