Summary

Neway International are seeking a Children’s Social Worker (All Wales Pledge) to join our client based with Vale of Glamorgan Council.

About the Client
Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Children & Young People’s Service delivers high‑quality safeguarding and assessment work across the region. Their Intake Team provides fast‑paced, responsive intervention at the point of referral, ensuring children are protected and families receive timely support.

The Role
A Children’s Social Worker is required to provide short‑term sickness cover within the Intake Team, with a dedicated focus on Section 47 enquiries. The postholder will undertake high‑quality assessments, manage safeguarding concerns and make timely, informed decisions in complex situations. This is a dynamic, fast‑paced role requiring strong analytical skills, confident practice and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Key Responsibilities
Lead and complete Section 47 enquiries in line with statutory guidance.

Undertake high‑quality Child and Family Assessments within required timescales.

Apply legislation, guidance and thresholds confidently and consistently.

Make timely, evidence‑based decisions to safeguard children.

Work directly with children and families to gather information and understand lived experience.

Manage competing priorities in a fast‑moving environment.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support effective planning and intervention.

Maintain accurate, timely case records and documentation.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Care Wales registration.

Strong experience in Section 47 enquiries and safeguarding practice.

Confident in applying legislation and statutory guidance.

Skilled in assessment, analysis and decision‑making.

Able to work at pace and manage competing priorities.

Must be able to travel within the Vale of Glamorgan and surrounding areas.

Full compliance documentation required.
