Summary

Are you a practical individual with a passion for craftsmanship and engineering? We are looking for a skilled Design & Technology Technician to run our workshops, ensuring that our students have the materials, tools, and safe environment they need to bring their creative projects to life.
About WPT
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we are fueled by a single commitment: 'We never knowingly do less for other people’s children than we would for our own.' As a thriving network of schools across South Yorkshire, we combine high expectations with embedded inclusivity. We do not work in silos; instead, we rely on deep collaboration and school-to-school support to ensure every student develops socially, emotionally, and academically to achieve the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Technician Level 2, you will be the backbone of the Design & Technology department. This is a hands-on role where you will prepare materials (wood, metal, plastics) for lessons, maintain machinery to ensure it is safe to use, and manage stock levels. Unlike a standard technician role, you will also be actively involved in the classroom—supporting teachers during practical sessions and demonstrating the safe use of tools to students. You will ensure the workshops are productive, orderly, and inspiring spaces for learning.
Responsibilities
Workshop Management: Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly, and productive working environment to meet the Health and Safety standards of the academy.
Lesson Preparation: Be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of equipment, resources, and materials as required by lesson plans to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of teaching activities.
Student Support: Under the guidance of the teacher, support practical activities for groups or on a one-to-one basis, ensuring the Health and Safety and good behaviour of pupils at all times.
Maintenance & Repair: Clean and undertake maintenance of equipment, carrying out repairs and modifications as required to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
Stock Control: Order and maintain sufficient supplies of materials to enable the delivery of lessons, and to demonstrate and assist teaching staff and pupils in their safe and effective use.
Safety & Security: Monitor and manage the safe and secure storage of allocated equipment to prevent unauthorised access; perform duties in line with Health and Safety regulations (including COSHH and the disposal of hazardous substances).
Record-keeping: Undertake record-keeping as required for maintenance logs and stock inventories.
The successful candidate must hold Level 2 National Qualifications.
