Summary

The Hydra Research and Innovation Centre (HRIC) is the only Hydra Research Centre globally combining interdisciplinary research to improve lives using innovative immersive tools. Our work with Hydra has traditionally focused on using immersive methods to aid teaching and learning. The HRIC aims to provide evidence-based research using Hydra tools to inform future decision making across various sectors with a focus on cultural leadership within emergency services and other organisations.

The successful candidate will be expected to work with a range of partners from all sectors to support research across a range of largely public sector organisations working within our themes of:

• Critical decision-making across organisations (Hydra Methodology)

• Culturally sensitive leadership and practice

Based at our Newport Campus, we are looking for highly motivated candidates who have completed (or are close to completing) a PhD in a social sciences degree or related subject area. The successful candidate will help to strengthen our current research profile in the HRIC and work closely with the HRIC Professional Practice Director and wider project team. The role will involve supporting large-scale research projects and taking a key role in all stages of the research, including supporting data collection, management, analysis and interpretation, preparation for publications in peer reviewed journals and reports research proposals, and administrative and dissemination work.

The role is positioned to support research across all themes within the HRIC. Specifically, you will work concurrently across multiple contract research projects to support delivery of the HRIC Research Strategy and USW Research Strategy 2030.
