Havencare is a forward-thinking and growing charity. We have been making a difference for 35 years, changing the lives of people who have learning disabilities, autism, brain injuries, and other support needs. Our big aims include every person having a home that is right for them, and support for the life they choose.
At Havencare, first and foremost, we are looking for outstanding people who align with our values of Transparency, Quality and Engagement.
We are currently seeking a Support Worker for an active sociable gentleman who has a learning disability and autism. The successful applicant will be working in a supported Living Plymouth service, supporting an individual living in his own flat who receives 2:1 support.
About the Role:
We are looking to recruit an individual who is upbeat and enjoys a laugh and a joke as this gentleman has a brilliant sense of humour and enjoys laughing with his support team.
You will have a positive attitude and can adapt to the different requirements of the role – enabling the individual to participate in a range of activities in the community, promoting independence in the home, providing personal care. We are looking for individuals who are interested in the function of (reason for) distressed behaviours and who will employ the principles of positive behavioural support.
Every day is different when working with this gentleman and we are keen to recruit someone who is flexible and will take a person-cantered approach – one day you may find yourself assisting him to go swimming at Tinside Lido, another day assisting him to attend the theatre to watch various shows, go out for lunch and attend discos.
