STEP AHEAD SERVICES -we are looking for 1x day team leader - who can do shifts Monday to Sunday - 7 am to 3 pm/2.30 pm till 10.30 pm
JOB DESCRIPTION
DESIGNATION: residential/outreach support worker/Key worker
LOCATION: South London

REPORTING TO: Manager/Supervisor
Due to the nature of the work for which you are applying, this post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exemptions) Order 1986, and the Home Office procedures on disclosures of information concerning convictions also apply.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide emotional and practical support to young people who are Looked After by the Local Authority. Undertaking a range of practical tasks; assisting with assessment and casework processes. To provide advice, support and guidance to young people, and help empower young people to take more control over their lives to become independent.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY AND PERSONAL DUTIES
• To attend staff meetings, house meetings and office meetings and management meetings
• Good report writing skills support staff in preparing reports.
• Ensure weekly, monthly reports, review reports (or any relevant reports) are done and sent over to management with in deadline given.
• To ensure that all paper works are filled properly to YP’s file
• To help maintain YP folder and relevant information is on the file.
• To check files and folders on computer that everything is saved in proper folder
• To make sure all placement documents are signed at the time of new placement
• To ensure staff are working in line with the plans for the young person set out in Placement Meetings, Reviews, Pathway Plans and that staff are achieving desired outcomes.
• To check GP etc. registration of all YP’s are completed within specific timescales and information recorded and all other relevant paper work is completed.
• Ensuring staff are working in line with the organisation Policy and Procedures.
• To support in any office duties that may be needed.
• To conduct staff meetings at times.
• To help with the day to day running of the organisation.
• To do supervision of staff members regularly and appraisals
• To do regular checks on young people in their flats to ensure they are happy with the services being offered.
• To ensure regular Health and Safety Checks are carried out by staff and ensure all second set of keys are held.
• To inform management if any damage and repairs are needed to property and the appropriate paper work is completed.
• To be rotated on the organisations emergency out of hours call
• To arrange event and activities for the YP.
• Attend placement meetings and Reviews of young people and any other relevant meetings that is required by the organisation to attend.
• To do surprise visits to units
• To ensure all accommodation is prepared to a satisfactory standard before young person is moved in to the property and all relevant items is provided.
• IT literate
• knowledge of Children Act 1989 and revised edition 2004
• Knowledge of the Leaving Care Act 2000.
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues and working in partnership.
• To be able to attend meetings e.g., Review meetings placement meetings and any other meeting relevant to young persons in placement.
• To have the ability to delegate task to staff to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
• To ensure staff are able to pass down relevant information of young people and are working in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
• To have the ability to liaise regularly with social services and outside agencies in relation to our clients.
• To link with key agencies in the community that will benefit our young people. To also delegate staff to be assigned key task to link with agencies and to oversee this.
• To ensure Health and Safety policy is complied with.
• To develop group working with young people
• To conduct exit interview and to meet with young people to consult with them re the service they are receiving.
• To help management to develop service further with new ideas or improved working practices.
• To help develop the team and staff to work more effectively.
• To help identify staff training needs.
• To check First Aid box is up to date in all accommodation any item is required, he should contact the head office immediately.
• To monitor staff performance and to support staff to work effectively with young people.
• To be proactive and to contact the local authority of any concerns of the young persons.
• Undertake other duties as required by management, commensurate with the post.
