About the Role
We are looking for a proactive, people-focused Security and Welcome Manager to lead our front-of-house and security operations.This is a key role in ensuring that our college provides a safe, welcoming and high‑quality customer experience for our students, staff, and visitors.

What You’ll Be Doing
As our Security and Welcome Manager, you will be responsible for:
Customer Experience & Front-of-House Leadership
- Ensuring every student, staff member and visitor receives an outstanding welcome.
- Leading and motivating our Welcome and Security teams to deliver excellent customer service at all times.
- Creating a friendly, professional, and inclusive environment at all key entry points.
Security & Safety Management
- Overseeing the day‑to‑day security operations across the campus.
- Ensuring the safety of all people onsite through effective risk management, emergency response readiness, and staff training.
- Managing incident reporting, access control systems, CCTV operations, and campus patrols.
Martyn’s Law / Protect Duty Compliance
- Acting as the college’s key point of contact for Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) readiness and compliance.
- Developing and maintaining appropriate security plans, threat assessments, and protective security measures.
- Training and supporting staff to understand their roles under Martyn’s Law, ensuring robust preparedness and response procedures.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Managing rotas, performance, and professional development for the Welcome and Security teams.
- Working closely with Estates, Safeguarding, Student Services and external partners such as emergency services and contractors.
- Supporting college events and open days to ensure smooth, safe operation.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience managing security or front‑of‑house operations in a busy environment.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- A passion for providing excellent customer service.
- Knowledge of Martyn’s Law (Protect Duty) and its requirements (or willingness to undertake training).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- The ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
Relevant security or safety qualifications (e.g., SIA, first aid, emergency planning) are desirable but not essential.
