The OpportunityAre you a passionate teacher looking to make a profound impact from day one? We are thrilled to announce the opening of a brand-new SEND Secondary School. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing team at the very start of its journey, dedicated to supporting young people aged 11-16 with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs, typically associated with autism.
We offer a broad, exciting curriculum allied to the National Curriculum, but personalised to meet the unique passions and needs of every student. With small class sizes and high levels of multi-disciplinary support, we provide an environment where both students and staff have "every opportunity to achieve."
The RoleAs a Science Teacher, your primary focus will be delivering high-quality, engaging lessons to students who may have multiple learning difficulties or present with challenging behaviours. You will be responsible for the progress, welfare, and outcomes of your pupils, ensuring they reach their personalised targets.
Key Responsibilities Include:-
Curriculum Development: Contributing to the delivery and development of the Science curriculum to meet educational and social needs.
-
Planning & Assessment: Maintaining short, medium, and long-term plans while monitoring and reporting on student progress to parents and senior staff.
-
Collaborative Working: Partnering with a multi-disciplinary team to review EHC plans, PEPs, and LAC reviews.
-
Supportive Environment: Using non-confrontational methods to manage challenging behaviours and maintain a motivating, safe classroom.
We are looking for a resilient, creative teacher who remains calm under pressure and possesses a deep understanding of SEND.
Essential Criteria:
-
PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or equivalent teaching qualification.
-
Sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience in curriculum implementation.
-
Ability to engage pupils in positive, enabling relationships.
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
-
Driving License: Due to our location, the ability to drive is highly desirable as public transport links are limited.
Desirable Criteria:
-
Experience working in a special school environment, particularly with pupils with autism.
-
Postgraduate diploma in Autism.
Beyond the competitive salary and welcome bonus, you will be part of a supportive group that priorities professional development. You will have the chance to lead in your subject area, provide professional support to peers, and help shape the ethos of a brand-new school.
