The Department of Paediatric Neurology is one of the longest established in Britain. It is supported by 8.5 WTE consultants based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) with links being established to support the Lancaster and South Cumbria population served by Royal Preston Hospital.

The Paediatric Neurology department also has specialized services including a long-standing Neuromuscular Service, an acquired brain injury service and specialised clinics including neuroimmunology, neurovascular and Neurofibromatosis. The department is one of the 4 centres in England chosen to provide a service for children’s epilepsy surgery. This is run jointly with Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The ketogenic diet service is one of the largest in the country with 60 patients currently.

Applications are invited for a post in Paediatric Neurology based at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and dynamic paediatric neurology department composed of 10 Consultant Paediatric Neurologists.


The Manchester Paediatric Neurology Service provides care for children with neurological disorders throughout the North West of England. The post-holder, though based at RMCH will contribute to this outreach model of outpatient care. This post is to support the Neurometabolic work of the service.

We can offer you a commitment to teaching, education, research and audit. The post-holder will have experience in all areas of paediatric neurology and will be on, or eligible to join, the Specialist Register for General Paediatrics and Paediatric Neurology, within 6 months of the Appointments Committee or have equivalence of training.
