We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our successful Trainee Programme and gain valuable, hands-on experience across the automotive industry.

This programme gives you the chance to become part of a thriving local business while exploring a range of trades and departments. By working across different areas of the company, you’ll gain a well-rounded understanding of how our automotive operations run and develop practical skills that will support your long term career.

As a Sales Trainee, you’ll jump straight into the fast-moving world of automotive sales and get real, hands-on experience from day one. This isn’t a desk-only role — you’ll be out and about learning how the business works, building confidence, and developing skills that will kick-start your career.

You could be out on the road with our sales team meeting customers in our mobile showrooms, welcoming visitors into our main showroom, or helping keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll learn how orders are processed, how we support customers with technical advice, how aftersales care works, and how finance and admin keep deals moving.

With support from an experienced team, you’ll gain valuable workplace skills, product knowledge, and the confidence to succeed in a customer-facing role. If you’re motivated, eager to learn, and ready to try something new, this is a brilliant first step into a career in the automotive industry.

· Placements run for 18 months

· Working within 6 areas of the business in blocks of 10 weeks

· With an additional 3 option blocks of 6 weeks – where you get to select areas of interest, that are not covered in the main scheme.

With a designated mentor team for support throughout the scheme, you will develop your skills, gain confidence, and discover where your strengths can take you in the fast-paced world of automotive.

You’ll rotate through key areas of the business, including:

Customer Service
External Sales for our Laser Tools and Power TEC brands
eCommerce & Marketing
Credit Control & Customer Accounts
Technical Support
Showroom & Fleet Management
Service & Repair
This program will immerse you in the full automotive sales cycle — from product innovation and branding through to customer engagement, aftersales, and long-term service — preparing you for a dynamic career in the automotive sector.

If successful at the end of the scheme, you will have the opportunity to move into a full employment with the company in the area you have excelled in or have a special interest in – this is our aim from day one! At this point we will offer you the chance to undertake a Vocational Qualification if desired.

You will be joining a team of current trainees at Tool Connection, who are at different stages of their journey with us. We hold regular trainee catch ups where you will get to chat to the other trainees, over a coffee (and sometimes cake!) about their experiences and share thoughts.

During these sessions your mentors will also provide some guidance on soft skills and dealing with a variety of situations in the workplace – all designed to set you up well for when you potentially take on a full-time role in the business.

The Candidate

We are searching for vibrant, enthusiastic candidates with a real desire to take on a new challenge and remain open minded during the programme. You will need to be keen to learn and versatile to adapt well to different work requirements within each department.

The schemes are aimed at those who are yet to discover their own path in the world of work – no formal qualifications are required.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 09.00-17.00 with 1/2 an hour for lunch.

Interviews will take place from late February through March and will be held in person at our offices in Southam, Warwickshire.

We have two available start dates for Sales Trainees in 2026: 30th March 2026 and 28th September 2026. While our primary focus is on the March intake, we will also accept applications for the September intake – please state on your application which start date works for you.
