Summary


Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly influential Value for Patients Director to lead our at scale productivity, financial efficiency and Value-Based Healthcare journey.

This is an opportunity for you to champion innovation and value in healthcare, drive productivity, and ensure every investment delivers for our patients.


Reporting to the Joint Interim Deputy Chief Executive and working closely with the Chief Finance Officer, you will drive a Trust-wide strategy that delivers real, measurable benefits for patients. This is a high-impact, visible leadership role, collaborating across all six Clinical Groups and corporate functions to embed value, drive innovation, and champion data-driven decision-making.

Moreover, you will lead our Value for Patients Programme Management Office (PMO), shaping and driving large-scale transformation initiatives to ultimately deliver financial improvements. You will engage directly with clinical, operational, and executive leaders to embed value-based healthcare principles across the Trust.

This is a role that will deliver a £150m+ programme of work in 26/27 and oversee a portfolio of up to 1000 individual projects; working at scale and experience of managing and running a large portfolio are essential.

As a credible, values-led leader, you’ll bring a proven track record of delivering complex cost improvement & service transformation programmes within large NHS provider or consultancy settings.

You’ll have a deep understanding of healthcare delivery & the data, insight & tools that are available to drive improvement, productivity gains & cost improvement, translating our organisational requirements to engage our teams to develop programmes of work that will deliver improvements. You’ll work confidently & credibly with operational leaders, supporting & challenging them to identify opportunities, deliver efficiencies, & embed value in day-to-day delivery.

Your ability to influence & engage at all levels will be key to success, as will an ability to manage a large & complex portfolio of projects & provide support & assurance to a range of stakeholders. You’ll combine a solid understanding of productivity, cost improvement, & performance levers with strong relationship-building skills, enabling you to connect clinical, operational, & corporate perspectives into cohesive, value-driven action.

Your expertise in governance, reporting, & accountability will underpin benefit realisation, while your pragmatic understanding of Value-Based Healthcare will help translate theory into practical, measurable results.
