Summary

Job Purpose To deliver safe, effective and patient-centred pre-hospital care across NHS-commissioned 999 emergency response services and specialist deployments, while progressing through a structured Newly Qualified Paramedic (NQP) programme designed to support the transition into autonomous clinical practice. The post holder will assess, treat, stabilise and, where appropriate, convey patients in accordance with national clinical guidelines, local policies and professional standards. Clinical Care Respond to NHS 999 emergency calls on behalf of the ambulance service. Undertake comprehensive patient assessment, clinical examination and formulation of appropriate care plans. Deliver evidence-based interventions in line with JRCALC guidance and organisational policies. Safely manage a wide range of medical, trauma and time-critical presentations within scope of practice. Determine appropriate conveyance decisions, including non-conveyance where clinically justified. Escalate appropriately and seek clinical advice when required. Maintain patient dignity, safeguarding awareness and equality standards at all times. Documentation & Governance Complete accurate, contemporaneous and legally robust Patient Report Forms (PRFs). Ensure documentation reflects clear clinical reasoning and decision-making. Participate in PRF audits and reflective practice as part of the NQP programme. Comply with CQC standards, organisational policies and national regulatory requirements. Participate in incident reporting, learning responses and patient safety processes where required. NQP Programme & Development Engage fully with the organisations approved NQP programme and portfolio. Complete required competency assessments and developmental milestones. Participate in supervised consolidation periods where applicable. Attend structured training sessions, case reviews and professional development meetings. Maintain HCPC registration and fulfil ongoing CPD requirements. Operational Responsibilities Operate safely and professionally within dynamic and varied environments. Participate in frontline 999 response, critical care transfers event medical deployments and specialist deployments as required. Maintain operational readiness of vehicles, equipment and medications. Use ZOLL X-Series cardiac monitoring equipment competently following structured training. Adhere to infection prevention and control standards. Demonstrate professional communication with patients, families and multidisciplinary partners. Professional Standards Act in accordance with HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics. Maintain high standards of professionalism, appearance and behaviour. Demonstrate accountability for clinical decisions and actions. Keep up to date with all statutory and mandatory training requirements as defined by the organisation and regulatory bodies. Promote a positive organisational culture and contribute to team cohesion. Accountability The post holder is professionally accountable for their clinical practice within their scope of competence and will work under the clinical governance framework of Echo Fire and Medical Ltd. Working Conditions The role involves shift work, including days, nights, weekends and bank holidays, in line with operational requirements. The post holder will work across a range of operational settings, including frontline emergency response and specialist deployments.
