Summary
You will be working as part of the multi-disciplinary team in the paediatric eye service, carrying out cycloplegic and subjective refractions, as well as fundoscopy, working closely with the consultant paediatric ophthalmologist and orthoptists, as well as other ophthalmologists, nurses and HCAs. You may also work in the cataract clinic and other sub-specialties, if you have previous experience and qualifications e.g. in cataract new and post-op clinics.You will also be supported by other sub-specialty clinicians and consultants, as we have glaucoma, medical retina, oculoplastic and emergency eye services. You will be responsible for ensuring your clinical work is in keeping with best practice, safe and working within your professional boundaries. Additionally, you will contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students of various disciplines within ophthalmology (ophthalmologists, medical students, ophthalmic nurses, orthoptists, ophthalmic photographers and other health professionals). You will also be assisting in the review and authorisation of HES voucher invoices from local opticians, when required.
