The Department for Transport recognises the need for, and the opportunities provided by, innovative uses of new and novel data sources to better understand the challenges facing the transport network and provide insight into creating solutions to these challenges.
These exciting new Management Information Lead SEO roles will develop and enhance the capacity of the department to work with more real time management information. This will include both using existing data in new ways as well as identifying data gaps and bringing in new data sets, constructing new products and sharing these across DfT and outside.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
- Engaging with colleagues across the department to identify and collate challenges which might be addressed by management information
- Taking user requirements and translating them into management information products
- Engaging with the data owners of management information across DfT to create proportionate data access to use existing data in new and novel ways
- Identifying new and novel data sets which could be used to solve transport sector challenges
- Creating new and novel products using management information and other data sets to solve departmental problems
- Engaging with teams across the department to identify opportunities to share best practise use of management information
- Engaging with Data Engineering and Digital Service colleagues to ensure that proposed products align with DfT’s ways of working
