Summary


Please note, at this stage, the role is open only to internal staff (including NHSP and Agency staff currently on placement within our organisation) and staff substantively employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). Are you looking to develop your clinical skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary team?

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our in-patient mental health ward for a 12-month fixed-term post.

The post holder will be involved in running psychological groups and brief individual interventions for patients.

All clinical duties relating to psychological assessment and intervention are delivered under the FULL clinical oversight and supervision of a qualified psychologist, with the qualified psychologist assuming clinical responsibility for the assistant’s case load and working as an integral part of the mental health in-patient ward team.
• To work closely as part of the MDT, part of ward rounds, safety huddles, ward routines, based predominantly on the wards to be able to actively support and work with patients both though structural engagements such as psychology groups, initial interventions and short-term, brief 1:1 therapy sessions to aid discharge and to link patients into resources in the community.
• To also support with the ward environment and help to develop a therapeutic environment and trauma informed practices.
• To implement plans of specialist psychological treatment or management of client’s mental health problems formulated by a qualified psychologist.
• To undertake a range of skills-based or protocol-driven psychological therapeutic interventions, in the light of an ongoing evaluation of the outcomes of the intervention under the clinical supervision
and guidance of a qualified psychologist.
• To provide psychological guidance and support to carers and families of service users under clinical supervision of a qualified psychologist
