Summary


Our friendly and supportive team at the Sexual Health Garden Clinic is looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our growing service.


We are a busy level 3 sexual health service based in Slough, with satellite clinics in Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, and Bracknell. We operate Monday to Friday, with the requirement to work one Saturday every 4 to 6 weeks.


Given the sensitive nature of this role, we are seeking individuals who are open‑minded, non‑judgemental, and able to work within a highly confidential environment. Previous experience in contraception or sexual health within a GUM setting is essential.


You will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will have access to excellent training opportunities, including the potential to undertake non‑medical prescriber training.


We deliver both in‑house services and community outreach. You may be required to work across both areas, and travel to work at the locality clinics. It is desirable that you be a car driver with the use of car for work purpose. You will be supporting a wide range of cases – from testing and treating sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, to providing contraception.

• To undertake nurse-led clinical sessions, including history taking and physical examinations of patients, within agreed departmental clinical guidelines and within own clinical competence.

• To issue medication and /or administer medication / vaccinations to patients attending the Sexual Health Service adhering legally to Patient Group Directions (PGDs) when authorised by lead clinician.

• Be willing to undertake training in specific areas clinical practice, including intrauterine and implant procedure, and apply this development in the clinical setting in accordance with department clinical guidance.

• Be willing to undertake training to gain independent (non-medical) prescribing status and apply to clinical practice in accordance withdepartment and organisation non-medical prescribing policies.

• Be willing to take part in Health Advising training and rotation to support Health Advising team when necessary.

• Teach patients, where appropriate to administer their own treatment as necessary.

The “must haves” for this role:

• Current NMC Adult Nurse registration

• Sexual Health qualification in SRH/ undertaking SRH qualification

• Evidence of continuing professional development

• Extensive post qualification experience

• Ability to work autonomously

• Ability to support staff to undertake clinical duties, develop and implement evidence-based practice.

• Able to motivate self and team

• Able to conduct courageous conversations and support staff with performance issues

• Able to manage workload and support others

• Good organisational skills
