Role Overview
We are recruiting an experienced Paint Sprayer to work within a defence and heavy engineering manufacturing environment. The role involves the preparation and application of industrial protective coatings to large, fabricated and machined steel components, where quality, consistency and attention to detail are critical.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare heavy steel components and assemblies for painting, including blasting prep, degreasing, masking and sanding
* Apply industrial and protective coating systems using airless / conventional spray equipment, including 2-pack paint systems
* Paint large and complex fabrications to specified thickness and finish standards
* Work to engineering drawings, specifications and quality procedures
* Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with defence-quality standards
* Carry out touch-ups and rework where required
* Maintain spray booths, equipment and tools to a high standard
* Adhere strictly to health, safety and environmental procedures, including COSHH and PPE requirements
* Accurately complete production and quality documentation
* Work closely with fabrication, machining and assembly teams to meet production deadlines
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a paint sprayer within defence, heavy engineering, automotive or industrial manufacturing environments
* Strong understanding of industrial coating systems and surface preparation
* Experience painting large steel fabrications and assemblies
* High attention to detail with a quality-driven mindset
* Ability to work to tight tolerances and customer specifications
* Knowledge of quality standards common to defence manufacturing (documentation, traceability, inspection)
* Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled production team
* FLT licence or overhead crane experience advantageous but not essential
