The Role
The Caretaker – Non‑Resident will support the day‑to‑day upkeep and cleanliness of Council estates, ensuring communal areas are safe, tidy, and well‑maintained. The role requires a proactive individual with experience in caretaking duties, a solid understanding of health and safety, and confidence in using cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH regulations. The ability to work independently is a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and safety across communal areas, including sweeping, mopping, litter removal, and waste management.
Carry out routine inspections of buildings and report repairs or hazards promptly.
Use cleaning chemicals safely and in accordance with COSHH guidelines.
Support minor maintenance tasks where required.
Ensure estate areas remain secure and well‑presented.
Work independently while managing daily tasks effectively.
Provide a helpful and professional presence for residents and visitors.
Candidate Requirements
Minimum six months’ experience as a non‑residential caretaker.
Strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
Knowledge and safe use of cleaning chemicals (COSHH).
Ability to work independently and use initiative.
Reliable, punctual, and committed to high standards of service.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
