Summary

A second Personal Assistant is required to support a happy and sociable seven‑year‑old non‑verbal autistic boy, living in Truro.

PA support is needed to provide help in the home and out in the community, enabling him to access activities safely and to enjoy positive experiences.

Ideally, two PAs will work together (2:1 support) to help manage the risk of him running away or becoming dysregulated. If only one PA is available, his parent will take the second position.

He enjoys being out and about but needs calm, patient support and reassurance when overwhelmed. His favourite places to visit are beaches and woods, and he likes visiting new places and meeting new people. He also loves watching Peppa Pig.

Six hours per week per PA are available, and some flexibility will be required.

This is a rewarding role supporting a young person to access the community, enjoy activities, and help the family balance their daily lives.

The rate of pay starts at £13.00 per hour.

Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people is essential. A full driving licence is desirable.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.

If you would like to apply for this role, please send your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.

Your CV or application form will be passed onto the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.

Please apply by emailing a copy of your CV and quoting the reference code AADP/2017 to: cypdirectpayments@cornwall.gov.uk
