Summary

Your new role
Southend City Council are seeking to appoint a full-time, permanent Multi-Disciplinary Team Manager.We are creating a new multidisciplinary service which goes live in May 2025.

We require a Team Manager who has in-depth experience, knowledge and enthusiasm to be part of this exciting new venture and our Southend professional family.The successful candidate will have previous experience of process, practice and designing guidance to develop this multidisciplinary service.

You will play a critical role in recruitment and leading the service to deliver and plan specialist interventions in areas such as domestic abuse, parental and child mental health, and substance misuse. The service under your leadership will co-produce support interventions with social workers to embed seamless joint working, successful and impactful outcomes.As a leader, you will uphold clear and consistent thresholds, ensuring the right families receive the right support at the right time to reduce the risk of children becoming looked after. You will provide strong professional leadership, supervision, support performance and quality assurance.

You will foster and embed a culture of evidence‑based practice and continuous improvement.As a leader, you will demonstrate leading on and developing effective partnerships to ensure ensuring high‑quality assessments, planning, support, advice and intervention across the service.This role will particularly suit someone with experience in domestic abuse, mental health, substance misuse, or other areas of specialist intervention. You will have a demonstrable wealth of experience, and relevant qualifications.

There will be a 20-min presentation with allocated time for preparation on the day of the interview and standard panel interview.

What you'll need to succeed
To be shortlisted for this position, you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England.

It is essential that you have previous experience of supervising and leading staff in complex social care environments.You will have extensive experience of working within frontline children services, experience and knowledge of adult services and have held leadership roles in developing services and support for children.

The successful applicant will have experience in risk management, child protection frameworks, and managing thresholds for support.You will be skilled and have demonstrable experience within guiding multi‑disciplinary practice and supporting staff from a range of professional backgrounds.As a leader, you have the experience to make sound, evidence‑based decisions under pressure and inspire high‑quality practice.
