Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent fostering experienced Team Manger.


The position is based within the Fostering Support Team, with hybrid working opportunities available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

*This position attracts the added incentive of a one-off payment of £7,500, after you have been employed in this post for 3 years and 1 day*


The main focus of this position is to line manage approved practitioners and supervising social workers. The post holder will have responsibility for the fostering service in terms of delivery, quality and good practice. You will have oversight regarding performance management and compliance and ensure guidelines are adhered to re NMS, Regulations and Safeguarding.
You will need to provide formal, professional supervision to staff, ensuring that appraisals are undertaken, identify skills gaps or training needs. You will also be responsible for monitoring and reporting on the team's performance, standards and quality of work to ensure that the council complies with policy, procedures and professional standards.You will need to be energetic, inspirational, passionate and resilient about achieving positive outcomes for the children and young people that require service from the team.

What you'll need to succeed
To be shortlisted, you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.

You must have +4 years' experience of working with children and families, fostering and adoption experience is also essential.It is essential that you have 4 years+ experience of working with children and families, especially adoption, as well as experience of providing fostering and/or adoption services and have worked at Advanced Practitioner level.

You need knowledge of methods of social work intervention, child protection, looked after children, fostering and adoption services. You need knowledge of relevant legislation/regulations and of National Minimum Standards and Regulations for Adoption and Fostering services.
