Monday to Thursday 0715 – 1515, Friday 0715 - 1445

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and resourceful individual to join our highly successful Neighbourhood team, working at Colchester City Council.

The Senior Neighbourhood Operative will handle day-to-day operational tasks to ensure the streets of Colchester are clean and work to enhance our communities.

The ideal candidate is physically active, resourceful, enthusiastic, and has a passion making a difference in Colchester for our residents.

Who you are:

You will be responsible for litter-picking and the emptying of litter and dog bins on a given route.
You will collect any fly tipping across the City, sharing any information with wardens which could help lead to prosecution.
You will be expected to deal with and remove incidents of graffiti, vandalism, and litter problems within the zone to ensure that they are dealt with promptly.
You are able to walk long distances, stand for significant periods of time and be able to lift heavy items.
You can use a Smart Phone and hold a full driving license.
You embrace working both early morning and late evening shifts, and one weekend in four.
You are resourceful and can adapt and find new solutions to problems.
You are self-motivated, we need people with a ‘See it, Solve it’ attitude who can spot what is needed and get the job done.
You understand what a community is and are enthusiastic about actively working closely with the people of Colchester.
You strive for excellence in everything you do and have a passion for improving the quality of cleanliness of our streets for the residents of Colchester.
You are devoted to upholding the values of Colchester City Council. You are committed to going the extra mile to make sure any work in the community is done to the best of our ability.
