This is an exciting time to join our School as we continue to develop and grow. Due to recent internal promotions and the development of our Inclusion team, we are looking for a new Tutor who will lead on the wellbeing of young people and staff, including the role of ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant).
Located in Headingley, Ormston School offers a safe and supportive environment for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities aged between 5 and 18 years old.

Role Responsibilities- Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within Ormston School
- Work with members of the Education team to support young people's personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning
- Promote positive learning behaviour with young people
- Lead classes during PPA and absence cover
- Deliver enrichment activities
- Support in lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional or behavioural needs
- Respond to immediate concerns, clarifying the situation
- Create and collate information relating to lessons and interventions delivered
- Assist in the preparation of information relevant to meetings about pupils
- Act as an advocate for the ethos of Ormston School
- Lead on interventions, including Reading and Phonics, reviewing progress made by young people
- Develop the role of Pupil Voice, liaising with SLT about the Pupil Council
- Develop relationships with parents/carers, taking an active role in transitions and consultation visits
- Lead ELSA sessions and complete training with the Local Authority
- Have a strong basic education, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
- Previous experience in a similar role, i.e., HLTA or Cover Supervisor
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH/Autism within an educational setting
- Experience of behaviour management techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work

The successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, cost of which will be met by Ormston School.
