About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Nursery Chef to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing healthy, nutritious meals and snacks for young children aged 0-5, ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene at all times.
This is a rewarding role at the heart of our nursery, helping to support children’s health, wellbeing and enjoyment of food.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and cook balanced meals and snacks in line with nursery menus and Early Years nutrition guidance
Cater for individual dietary needs, allergies and cultural preferences
Maintain high standards of kitchen hygiene in line with Food Standards Agency requirements
Complete daily records relating to allergens, food temperatures and cleaning schedules
Manage food orders, stock control and budgeting
Work closely with nursery staff to promote healthy eating and positive mealtime experiences
Ensure the kitchen and equipment are clean, organised and well maintained
Follow all nursery policies and procedures, including safeguarding and health and safety
Person Specification
Essential
Experience of preparing meals in a professional kitchen or similar environment
Knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
Ability to plan and prepare nutritious meals for children
Good organisational and time management skills
Friendly, positive and reliable attitude
Ability to work as part of a team
Desirable
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (or willingness to complete)
Experience of working in an early years or school setting
Knowledge of children’s nutritional requirements
