What will be your primary role?

This position involves the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of highly complex electronic sensing and control systems. The role requires planning and executing work based on electrical and electronic diagrams, schematics, and technical orders, as well as reviewing work orders for system overhauls, repairs, or modifications. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in linear electronics control equipment, conducting system tests to ensure compliance with standards, and running diagnostic tests to isolate system issues. The job also entails installing, overhauling, fabricating, and modifying electronically controlled industrial systems and performing preventive maintenance. Additionally, the successful candidate will develop and implement service and maintenance schedules while adhering to all safety and security practices to maintain a secure work environment.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?

1. Comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices; knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing, and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, and similar devices; knowledge of Boolean algebra to construct truth tables and logic equations for analysis of logic circuits; and knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
2. Knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation
4. Skill in troubleshooting electronic problems on large projects and applying test procedures; and in the use of hand and power tools of the electronics trade to include a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment.
5. Ability to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and install complete electronic systems.
6. Ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data, such as schematics, diagrams, and technical orders relating to the electronics trade

What are the conditions of employment for this role?

1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
5. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
6. Shift work may be required.
7. Emergency overtime may be required.
8. The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
9. Will be required to train/guide lower grade (or other trades) military/civilian employees.
10. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
11. The hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Fri 0730-1600) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies.
12. For this position you will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, this will be conducted at RAF Lakenheath.
13. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, CAT B valid driver’s license may be required for the position.
14. The work may require the employee to operate (with proper training) specialized vehicles, such as motorized maintenance platforms, “High Reaches”, or other types of lifts.

Qualification requirements:
•An appropriate, valid CAT B driver’s license is required for the position.
•Must hold Level III NVQ/HND/HNC/BTEC, City and Guilds, or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline (i.e Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Engineering or Manufacturing, Processing and Control)., together with a minimum of three years’ work experience.
