We are looking for one or more support workers, able to travel to the Hailsham area, who can bring energy, positivity, and enthusiasm to spending time with him, ideally one female and one male for this role. The client is a 34 year old young man, graduate, intelligent, physically very fit, can walk for miles, perfectly capable of looking after his own physical needs.

Iatrogenic brain injury in 2017 has left him with short-term memory and complex executive function issues – as well as a compulsion to walk and phonic tics – although the intensity of both these varies depending on diet (sugar& caffeine) and stress levels. But there is still cognition under that burden.

To give you an idea of his condition, he can understand instructions, play video or card games, but not have a detailed conversation about them. Loves music, rap (used to write rap lyrics pre injury), loves dogs (we’ve always had family German Shepherds), enjoys activities like snooker, archery, quad biking, music festivals, though almost never does any of them. Used to be a highly sociable character before injury and still thrives in company of his peers.

The person(s) he needs:
- Youthful – ideally similar age to him – female or male.
- Someone positive and energetic, who wants to have fun and enjoy seeing their client happily engaging with activities/people that rebuild his confidence, cognitive focus and executive function.

-
Duties include:
- Administration
- Companionship

Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful

Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.

If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.

Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
