This opportunity is for a job share working Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (please note there is no flexibility on these days).
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is seeking a HR Employee Relations Advisor to join its Corporate Services Directorate. This team plays a vital role in enabling the MCA’s mission by delivering a full range of HR services, including employee relations, organisational development, and volunteer support. As part of a collaborative and forward-thinking HR function, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to support both staff and volunteers across the agency. The team is committed to continuous improvement, proactive case management, and upholding high standards of governance and policy compliance.

As an HR Employee Relations Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the MCA’s employee relations function, providing guidance on a range of people matters including performance, attendance, and conduct. You’ll work closely with managers and volunteers, contribute to continuous improvement, and help deliver training and policy updates, ensuring a consistent and high-quality HR service across the agency.
Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
Support and advise on employee relations cases including probation, performance, and attendance matters.Deliver early interventions to resolve issues informally where appropriate.Provide guidance to Coastguard teams on managing volunteers and people processes.Monitor and analyse employee relations data to identify trends and risks.Contribute to continuous improvement of HR policies and case handling.Assist in delivering training and embedding policy changes across the agency.See the role profile attached for a full list of accountabilities.
