Summary
Come and join one of the UK's largest independent providers in neuro and mental healthcare. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.
We are looking for a passionate part-time Physiotherapist to join an innovative and forward-thinking team. Could this be your next career move?
Active Neuro has recently invested in the refurbishment of our Birmingham service and introduced state-of-the-art robotic technology to enhance the outcomes we deliver to our clients. A comprehensive suite of equipment, including systems such as the Luna EMG Premium and the ExoMotus M4, enables physiotherapists to deliver intensive, goal-focused rehabilitation and achieve measurable progress with our clients.
Our services also include a high dependency unit supporting clients with tracheostomies, providing opportunities to deliver rehabilitation, chest management, and ongoing maintenance care.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team delivering a full range of therapies to both inpatients and outpatients. You will play a key role in supporting individuals who have experienced catastrophic, life-changing injuries, helping them regain function, independence, and confidence through a holistic, person-centred approach to rehabilitation.
We are committed to supporting your professional development. You will receive ongoing training and CPD opportunities, with the chance to contribute to service development and innovation. We actively encourage research and development with our local university partners, and you will be part of a team passionate about advancing therapy practice, engaging in research, and potentially presenting evidence-based work that showcases the impact of physiotherapy.
Conference attendance and professional networking are a regular part of the role, as we work closely not only with NHS colleagues but also with clients who self-fund their rehabilitation, as well as medico-legal case managers and solicitors.
If you are an enthusiastic physiotherapist looking for a part-time role, who wants to work with cutting-edge technology, support complex clients including those in high dependency care, contribute to service development, and make a meaningful difference to people's lives, we would love to hear from you.
Please note - this advert will close once we have received a sufficient number of applications.
The role:
This is a 18.75-hour per week position, with days and times to be agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate. The 2.5 day-a-week structure makes it ideal for individuals who have other professional, academic, or personal commitments, offering genuine flexibility in how the role is integrated into your schedule. This opportunity allows you to apply and develop your neurorehabilitation expertise within a supportive team, while also maintaining the freedom to pursue interests in other specialties or client groups.
As a Specialist Physiotherapist, you will:
- Deliver a high-quality physiotherapy service as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Carry out specialist assessments independently for clients with complex neurological conditions.
- Develop personalised problem lists, treatment plans, and rehabilitation goals.
- Complete complex respiratory assessments and treatment sessions.

- Assess and manage increased muscle tone and spasticity.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support to therapy assistants and student physiotherapists.
- Contribute to the teaching and education of relatives, carers, and MDT colleagues.
- Actively engage in multidisciplinary team meetings, offering feedback and collaborative input.
- Produce detailed, comprehensive review reports for patients, families, and commissioners.
- Foster effective collaboration and communication within the MDT.
- Safeguard individuals from harm and uphold their human rights.
About you:
For this role, you'll need:
- HCPC registration.
- Post-qualification experience in neurorehabilitation or complex care (including ABI/TBI).
- Experience and competence in respiratory care, including assessment, chest management, and rehabilitation for clients with complex needs such as tracheostomies.
- Well-developed clinical reasoning skills and a commitment to person-centred practice.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive team culture.
- Enthusiasm for developing skills, embracing innovation, and contributing to service improvement.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS.
