Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to join our dynamic, innovative, and friendly Clinical Pharmacy Team based at the Chelsea Site. This will provide you an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and gain invaluable management experience for a rewarding career. The successful applicant will be responsible for the delivery of an efficient and accurate clinical pharmacy service to the inpatient wards. In addition, you will also participate in medicines reconciliation, supporting stock management, counselling patients and general dispensary duties, including dispensing and accuracy checking. To be successful in this role, you will need to be organised, motivated, have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt quickly to new situations. Registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is essential as well as holding the ACPT accreditation and a nationally recognised medicines optimisation accreditation course.
• To be responsible for leading on the operational delivery of the medicines optimisation services across clinical services, with the support of the team of clinical pharmacy technicians.
• To be responsible for the delivery of education and training on medicines optimisation to staff across the clinical services, ensuring they conduct duties within legislation and local policies / procedures.
• To support and drive the implementation of initiatives to improve patient experience related to medicines.
• Continuously review and improve medication pathways to identify opportunities for optimisation and enhanced service delivery
• To deputise for the Chief Technician – Clinical services when necessary.
• To support other band 6 lead clinical pharmacy technicians on the operational delivery of the medicine’s optimisation services across clinical services, with the support of the team of clinical pharmacy technicians.

• Responsible for leading, directly managing, and co-ordinating the clinical pharmacy technician team in the daily running of the medicine management services across inpatient wards on the Chelsea site.
• To support the Lead Pharmacist & Chief pharmacy technician – Clinical Services to ensure a prompt, safe and efficient medicines management and supply service is provided to designated wards within the Trust.
• Develop, routinely review and update standard operating procedures within areas of responsibility, ensuring all staff are informed of and understand any changes.
• To support and participate in the delivery of training for all staff working within clinical areas ensuring they conduct duties within legislations and local procedures/policies.
• To work closely with the senior clinical services team on the Sutton site to ensure consistent and best practice across the Trust and develop business continuity and support arrangements as necessary.
• Work closely with the wider clinical pharmacy team to ensure delivery of effective medicines management services across all clinical areas.
• To lead the medicines management service on Critical Care and surgical wards. To provide medicines management services in other areas as needed.
