Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology Department at the Royal Free London for a Senior Clinical Glaucoma Fellow for a period 12 months.
The post will work within the Royal Free London’s ophthalmology department which provides a full range of ophthalmology services at six main sites across north London. These sites include the Royal Free, Whittington, St Pancras, Barnet, Chase Farm and Edgware Community Hospitals. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to join in the weekly teaching and educational sessions at the Royal Free.

We are at the forefront of innovation, developing community based ophthalmology, a high quality eye casualty service, expanding our VR service and the development of a multi-disciplinary approach to stable glaucoma management.

The post is at level ST3+ in terms of knowledge base and duties. There may be opportunity for the suitable candidate to attend further theatre list for surgical training depending on experience and aptitude. All medical staff are expected to take part in organised postgraduate teaching. Teaching of other medics, nurses, orthoptists may occur on an occasional basis. There may be opportunities for involvement with clinical research with the supervising consultant(s). There is an established clinical audit system involving all doctors. The appointee will be expected to show a strong commitment to the continued development of clinical audit. The post holder must comply with the Trust’s clinical governance requirement, being mindful of working at both the Whittington and the Royal Free. This includes participation in clinical audit, outcome review, incident reporting, achievement of national and local performance management target, compliance with risk management policies and participating in the appraisal process.
