Summary
This post is an exciting opportunity to join us in the Oncology Department at The Royal Free Hospital. The post will have both an outpatient clinic and research component and will also support the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) at the RFH site. The post is available from March 2026 for a period of 6 months.
This post would be most suited to an applicant with an interest in pursuing Oncology as a career and who wishes to gain further experience in the field, or to an applicant pursuing a CESR route of Oncology training or a post CCT applicant.
The post holder will work directly with Consultant Oncologists, the AOS nursing staff, Oncology Specialist Trainees and junior grade doctors in assessing and managing patients presenting with acute oncology presentations. The successful applicant will also have exposure to oncology out-patient clinics, radiotherapy planning, SACT prescribing and clinical trials.
Experience in Oncology would be desirable, however, it is not essential and the work commitments will be adjusted to that of a more junior, or more senior level. Experience in Internal Medicine at IMT2 or equivalent level is required.
The successful applicant will join a team of 10 specialist registrars (6 clinical oncology/4 medical oncology), 2 senior clinical fellows and an IMT3 within the department. This would be the 7th clinical oncology post.
A proposed timetable is as follows although the final arrangements of these sessions will be by mutual agreement with the successful candidate (taking into account any specific training needs of tumour sites of interest) and the Clinical Service Lead.
