St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, and Young Responders programmes).
Job Summary
Design and deliver engaging, high-quality learning experiences for our customers, acting as a senior specialist in digital learning. This includes creating accessible eLearning courses, job aids, and other innovative learning resources that meet organisational standards and support diverse learner needs.
Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure all learning solutions are learner-centred, evidence-based, and aligned with best practice in digital learning and adult education.
About You
Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent), including Maths and English, with a Level 4 qualification in training/education or a willingness to work towards one.
Level 4 qualification in instructional design, product design/development, or equivalent proven professional experience.
Proven experience identifying learning, customer, and organisational needs and translating these into effective training products.
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence, motivate, and provide specialist leadership within a matrix environment.
Solid digital learning capability, including graphic design skills and hands-on experience with eLearning tools and virtual learning environments.
Experience managing or coordinating projects across multiple sites, working independently and collaboratively, with desirable experience in project and budget management.
About the Role
Design, develop and maintain high-quality digital and face-to-face learning solutions using a range of instructional design methods, authoring tools and multimedia formats, grounded in adult learning best practice.
Lead and coordinate contributions from multi-disciplinary teams (including SMEs, designers, trainers and external developers) to deliver cohesive learning products within agreed time, cost and quality parameters.
Provide senior specialist expertise in digital learning, offering advice, mentoring and informal leadership to colleagues and influencing stakeholders to align learning solutions with organisational strategy and learner needs.
Project manage learning product development and innovation, including planning, risk management, cost control, quality assurance and timely delivery.
Manage the deployment, evaluation and continuous improvement of learning products through LMS platforms, assessments, usability testing and learner feedback.
Build strong internal and external relationships, working closely with digital, IT and quality teams to ensure all learning activity meets St John Ambulance standards and supports effective training delivery.
