Summary

English Teacher: Trade the "Grind" for Impact

Location: Tamworth Area

Salary: £32,433 - £42,352 (DOE)

Focus: KS3 - KS5 / SEMH & Trauma-Informed Practice

Feeling like a cog in a machine? If you're tired of managing 30+ students at a time and spending your evenings marking endless stacks of papers, it's time to change the scenery.

We are looking for a passionate English Specialist to join a specialised, small-scale school in Tamworth. This role is designed for the teacher who loves their subject but wants to spend more time teaching and less time policing.

Why This Role is Different

In a mainstream setting, students with complex needs can often fall through the cracks. Here, those students are your entire focus. You will work with small groups (often 1-to-1 or 2-to-1) where you can actually see the "lightbulb moment" happen.

  • No More "One Size Fits All": Forget rigid schemes of work. You have the autonomy to make English relevant to students who have struggled with traditional education.

  • A New Skillset: You will be fully trained in Trauma-Informed Practice and the PACE model, skills that are becoming the "gold standard" in modern education.

  • Real Work-Life Balance: Smaller cohorts mean a significantly reduced marking load and more time for creative lesson planning during the school day.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Building Bridges: Using English as a tool to build confidence, from basic literacy to GCSE success.

  • Collaborating: Working alongside therapists and support staff to provide a holistic "wrap-around" education.

  • Mentoring: Acting as a stable, positive role model for young people with ADHD, Autism, and emotional challenges.

Who We're Looking For
  • The Subject Enthusiast: You hold QTS and genuinely love English, but you're ready to apply it in a more meaningful, human way.

  • The Career Changer: Whether you're an ECT looking for a unique start or a veteran teacher looking to escape the "exam factory" pressure.

  • The Problem Solver: You're patient, resilient, and you don't take a student's "bad day" personally.

The Rewards
  • Market-Leading Pay: A salary scale that rewards your specialist expertise.

  • Health & Wellbeing: A culture that actually values staff mental health, including enhanced maternity/pension benefits.

  • Career Transformation: Transition into the SEN sector, one of the fastest-growing and most rewarding areas of education.
