Summary
Lead Practitioner of English | Alternative Provision
Location: Tamworth (B79) Salary: £32,433 - £42,352 Setting: Specialist Therapeutic School
If you believe that "behavior is communication," we want to talk to you.
We are looking for a high-calibre English Teacher to take ownership of the literacy pathway in our Tamworth-based specialist provision. This isn't a role for someone looking to follow a script; it's for a practitioner who understands that for a student in crisis, a poem or a story can be a lifeline.
The MissionOur students have complex profiles-often a mix of SEMH, ADHD, and neurodivergence-and many have experienced significant trauma. They don't need a lecturer; they need a specialist who can strip away the barriers to learning and rebuild their relationship with education from the ground up.
Your mandate:
-
Curriculum Crafting: Deliver bespoke English programs ranging from Functional Skills Level 1 & 2 to GCSE English Language/Literature.
-
Therapeutic Integration: Embed the PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) framework into every interaction.
-
Outcome Driven: Work beyond the grade book to achieve meaningful EHCP goals that prepare these young people for independent adulthood.
We are seeking a "relentlessly optimistic" educator. You should be:
-
QTS Certified: With a deep pedagogical understanding of how to differentiate for complex SEN.
-
Trauma-Aware: You don't see "disruption"; you see a student struggling to regulate, and you have the tools to help them find their footing.
-
A Strong Communicator: Able to advocate for your students in multidisciplinary meetings and build iron-clad trust with their families.
-
Resilient: You have the "thick skin" and "big heart" required to thrive in a high-challenge, high-reward environment.
-
Autonomy: We trust our teachers. You have the freedom to innovate and adapt your curriculum to meet the student where they are.
-
Investment: From enhanced maternity packages to a robust private pension and continuous professional development, we invest in the people who do the hard work.
-
Small-Scale Impact: With a focus on Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, your ability to influence a student's post-16 trajectory is unparalleled.
Shift your career toward a role that values your empathy as much as your expertise. Help us turn the page for students who are ready for a new chapter. For more information please contact Paul at Randstad on 01293 527416 or email paul.hirchfield@randstad.co.uk
