Working collaboratively, our experienced scientific team provides a bespoke service allowing our clients to make the most of our expertise in histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC) including multiplex immunofluorescence, in situ hybridisation (ISH) & cutting-edge digital image analysis (IA).
The Role
Due to continued growth, we are looking for a motivated Trainee Research Scientist to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career scientist to gain hands-on experience in histology and IHC within a regulated CRO environment while receiving structured training and mentorship.
You will support day-to-day laboratory operations while developing technical, analytical, and professional skills. You will be based in our laboratories in BioCity Nottingham during regular business hours.
Key Responsibilities:
• Undertake histology and immunohistochemistry projects.
• Prepare samples, reagents and documentation according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Accurately record data and study documentation.
• Work to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) as well as all safety and other relevant quality standards.
• Manage stock. Audit and organise supplies and chemicals.
• Work closely with senior scientists and project teams. Contribute to the development of SOPs and continuous improvement of working practices.
Training & Development:
• Structured onboarding and on-the-job training.
• Mentorship from experienced scientists.
• Exposure to regulated CRO workflows and client-driven studies.
• Opportunity to progress into a Scientist role based on performance.
Requirements:
• A degree completed in the last five years in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Previous experience within a laboratory role is beneficial, preferably within a GLP environment.
• Proficient IT skills - competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong administrative and organisational skills, an effective team player with the ability to work efficiently to meet defined timelines and organise own workload.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively in a cross-disciplinary team.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Previous laboratory experience, especially in histology or IHC, is an advantage but not essential.
What We Offer:
• Competitive trainee salary
• Comprehensive training and career development
• Supportive, collaborative working environment
• Exposure to real-world research and regulatory science
• Pension scheme, death in service benefit.
How to Apply:
For all our roles, a client focussed approach with strong scientific expertise is key to our business. If you are passionate about science and eager to learn in a dynamic and growing organization, we would love to hear from you!
