Summary

The Role: We are looking for a committed and hands‑on Facilities Assistant to support the smooth running of our Epping Forest Campus. In this varied operational role, you will help maintain a safe, high‑quality learning environment by carrying out minor repairs, assisting with site maintenance, supporting room setups and furniture moves, and ensuring that campus facilities remain clean, secure and fully functional. Epping Forest Campus is a modern, spacious and career‑focused learning environment located in Loughton. The campus is designed to give students real‑world, practical experiences, with a strong focus on vocational courses and high-quality progression routes. With strong public transport links (just minutes from Debden Station on the Central Line), an on-site café, Costa Coffee, and vibrant student social areas, Epping Forest Campus provides a thriving, community‑focused space where students learn, develop and feel part of a welcoming college culture. As part of the Facilities team, you will play a key role in keeping this busy, diverse and highly utilised environment running to the highest standard. Please note: A 0.4 FTE Facilities Assistant position is also available at our Ardleigh Green Campus. Key Responsibilities: • Carry out minor repairs, basic maintenance and decoration tasks. • Support mail handling, goods deliveries and general duties. • Assist with furniture moves, room setups and safe equipment storage • Maintain internal and external areas, reporting defects promptly • Support cleaning, grounds maintenance and safe removal of hazardous materials when required • Travel to other campuses as needed and participate in enrolment, exam invigilation and open events Who You Are: • Experience in facilities, maintenance, or a similar support role • Basic DIY and repair abilities • Safe manual handling awareness • Good communication, teamwork and organisational skills • Reliability, attention to detail and a positive, proactive attitude Qualifications: • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) • Basic IT, literacy and numeracy skill What We Offer: • Pension: New City College provides a career average pension scheme for all staff (TPS or LGPS) • Accessibility: All college sites are easily accessible for wheelchair users and via public transport (bus, DLR, or tube). • On-Site Facilities: Free access to on-site gym facilities at some campuses and on-site cafes serving subsidised food and drinks. • Staff Development: Five CPD (Continuing Professional Development) days per year, with access to industry-standard facilities and a collaborative working environment.
