Summary
JOB SUMMARY To ensure patients are dealt with in an efficient and polite manner, liaising with other members of staff when needed. Main Responsibilities Opening the premises and checking heating, lighting and ventilation. Ensuring IT and telephones are ready each morning and ensuring the self check-in is working. Ensure the waiting areas are tidy and all necessary preparations have been made to receive patients. Receiving and routing patients on arrival. Answering general queries, giving test results, making new and follow-up appointments. Answering the telephone and ensuring all enquiries are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Forwarding calls to other departments and taking messages as appropriate. Receiving requests for home visits, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary referring to the Duty Doctor. Issuing repeat prescription requests in a timely manner. Registerin temporary residents. Managing deliveries; ensuring items for cold storage are dealt with promptly Ensuring outgoing mail from all departments is posted promptly. Dealing with tasks sent internally and externally. Checking consulting rooms after surgery and making the room ready for the next clinician. Retrieve and re-file paper records as required. Action emails. Inputting updates of patient details on computerised medical records, including changes of name/address/consent/next of kin etc. Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payments and issue receipts. Ensuring the reception area is left tidy and ready for use by incoming colleagues, and that they are provided with information about any unresolved or urgent matters. When last to leave at the end of the day, ensuring the building is totally secured and alarm activated. Act as a chaperone when requested by a clinician (after training has been completed).
