Summary

Personal Assistant Needed to Support an Active, Sport‑Loving Young Man with Learning Disabilities
Flexible hours • Early evenings & some weekends • Driver with own car essential

A rewarding opportunity has opened for a caring, energetic, and reliable Personal Assistant to support a young man with learning disabilities who is full of enthusiasm, personality, and a real zest for life. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active, loves sport, and wants to make a meaningful difference in someone’s day‑to‑day life.

About Him
He is a warm, sociable young man who thrives on routine, encouragement, and positive interaction. He has a brilliant sense of humour, enjoys meeting new people, and loves being part of his local community. He is happiest when he’s out and about, staying active, and doing the things he loves.

His biggest passions include:

Climbing – indoor climbing walls, bouldering centres, and anything that challenges him physically

Basketball – playing, watching, and practising skills

Rugby – a huge fan of the sport and loves the atmosphere around it

The gym – keeping fit, using equipment, and working on strength

All sports – he’s always keen to try something new

Socialising – chatting, meeting people, and being part of group activities

He benefits from gentle guidance, structure, and someone who can help him navigate situations with confidence. He responds really well to people who are patient, upbeat, and genuinely enjoy being active.

About the Role
This is a varied, hands‑on support role where no two days look exactly the same. You’ll be helping him live a full, independent, and enjoyable life by supporting him with:

Community Activities & Social Life
Attending sports sessions, gym visits, and climbing centres

Going to basketball or rugby activities

Supporting him to join in with social groups or community events

Encouraging positive interactions and helping him build confidence

Daily Living & Independence
Helping him plan and structure his time

Supporting him to develop life skills

Encouraging independence in everyday tasks

Providing reassurance and helping him manage new or unfamiliar situations

Travel & Safety
Driving him to and from activities (own car required)

Supporting him to travel safely and confidently

Helping him navigate busy environments

General Support
Being a positive role model

Offering calm, consistent encouragement

Helping him enjoy his hobbies to the fullest

Creating a supportive, trusting relationship

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being active themselves — you’ll be joining him in sports, gym sessions, and outdoor activities, so enthusiasm is key.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:

Friendly, patient, and understanding

Energetic and active, ideally with an interest in sport

A good communicator who can build rapport and trust

Calm, reliable, and able to offer gentle guidance

Flexible to work early evenings and some weekends

A driver with a full UK licence and their own car

Experience supporting someone with learning disabilities is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is the right attitude — kindness, consistency, and a willingness to learn.

Why This Role Matters
Your support will help him:

Build confidence

Stay active and healthy

Enjoy the sports and hobbies he loves

Develop independence

Feel connected, included, and valued

You’ll be making a genuine difference in his life — helping him grow, explore, and enjoy every opportunity. It’s a role where your presence truly matters and where you’ll see the impact of your support every day.
