- Designing and delivering engaging, age-appropriate lessons that utilise a range of assistive technologies and teaching methods
- Providing specialised instruction in areas such as braille, orientation and mobility, and adaptive living skills
- Collaborating with parents, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic, coordinated approach to student support
- Advocating for the rights and needs of students with visual impairments within the school and community
- Staying up-to-date with the latest research, best practices, and innovations in the field of visual impairment education
To be successful in this role, you must possess a strong background in special education, with a particular focus on working with students who have visual impairments. A teaching qualification, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ), is essential, and additional qualifications or certifications in the field of visual impairment education are highly desirable.
