Summary

Purchasing Lead

Torbay | Around £30,000 + 10% bonus | 40 hours per week | Permanent

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting on behalf of a well-established manufacturing business for an experienced Purchasing Lead. This hands-on role combines strategic procurement with day-to-day operational responsibility, ideal for someone looking to make a real impact across supply chain performance, cost control, and service delivery.

Key Duties

Vendor & Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including on-site and off-site visits.

  • Develop and deliver supply chain initiatives and strategic improvements.

  • Issue supply forecasts and monitor KPIs and supplier performance.

  • Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers.

  • Identify, onboard, and manage suppliers on an ongoing basis.

Purchasing & MRP

  • Oversee the purchasing and MRP process.

  • Raise purchase orders for stock and ad-hoc requirements.

  • Ensure process compliance and continuous improvement against KPIs.

  • Liaise with Finance to ensure accurate PO matching.

  • Maintain data integrity within the ERP system.

Inventory Management

  • Manage inventory levels to maintain service and reduce dead stock.

  • Identify supply constraints and implement contingency plans.

  • Support bi-annual stock takes alongside the Warehouse team.

  • Monitor inventory value against budget and performance indicators.

Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and support the purchasing/supply chain team.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews.

  • Promote best practice and continuous improvement.

Requirements
  • Proven experience developing and managing procurement or supply chain strategies.

  • Experience purchasing from and managing global suppliers.

  • Leadership or team management experience.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.

  • Proactive, team-focused approach with strong attention to detail.

  • Competent with Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
