Food and Safety Team - Make a Difference in Wiltshire Council
If you are a qualified Environmental Health Officer, registered with the CIEH and have completed your Portfolio of Professional Practice, or are close to finishing, we would love to hear from you.
Our Food and Safety Team is looking for a dedicated Environmental Health Officer to join their friendly, supportive team, where your work can directly benefit residents and businesses in Wiltshire.
We also welcome BSc or MSc Environmental Health students graduating this year who have passed the Practical Food ID exam. For the right candidate, we will fully support you towards EHP registration.
In this role, you will carry out food premises inspections, lead investigations, and provide expert advice to a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll also be involved in health and safety and infectious disease investigations.
You will also have opportunities to mentor junior officers, help shape service development, and represent the council formally when needed.
Because Wiltshire is a large, predominantly rural county, you will need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle to meet service needs across the area.
We are looking for someone confident working independently, able to manage their own caseload, and skilled in communicating with a wide range of stakeholders. Experience with high-risk food processes or mentoring would be an advantage.
Why us?
Our integrated approach means you will collaborate closely with Trading Standards, Animal Health, Licensing, and Environmental Protection, creating a forward-thinking, multidisciplinary environment that sets us apart from many other local authorities.
Working with us means being part of a forward-thinking council that prioritises professional excellence, sustainability, and continuous learning. You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team and encouraged to grow your skills.
