We are seeking experienced clinicians to join our team as Autism Clinical Assessors, working on a self-employed, ad-hoc basis, to support our Children & Young People autism assessment service.

The role involves undertaking clinical autism assessments and contributing assessment findings within a multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway, in line with service protocols and governance arrangements.

Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face appointments offered where clinically indicated or requested, including at our Basingstoke clinic.

Work will be offered on an ad-hoc basis in line with service demand.

Responsibilities:

Gather, review and integrate information from multiple sources, including developmental history, questionnaires, observational data and collateral information
Prepare and submit clear, high-quality clinical assessment reports within agreed timeframes
Present assessment findings to the multidisciplinary team when required to support diagnostic decision-making
Communicate sensitively and clearly with children, young people and their families throughout the assessment process
Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records
Work in line with all Skylight Psychiatry policies, procedures and core values
Join Slack, the platform used by the team to communicate service updates and key information
Remain up to date with current research and best practice in autism assessment

Qualifications and Skills Required:

Professional qualification relevant to autism assessment in children and young people (for example: Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Psychiatry or equivalent)
Registration with a relevant professional body, with no restrictions on practice
Demonstrable experience conducting autism assessments with children and young people
Strong understanding of child development and neurodevelopmental presentations
Experience working within multidisciplinary assessment pathways
Enhanced DBS clearance
In-date training in line with CSTF requirements
Excellent communication skills, particularly when working with families
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team
Confidence in conducting assessments virtually

Remuneration and Practical Arrangements:

Competitive fee per completed autism assessment (inclusive of assessment appointment(s), report writing and MDT contribution where required)

This role is offered on a self-employed basis; the postholder is responsible for their own tax and national insurance arrangements

Assessments are delivered primarily virtually, with face-to-face appointments agreed in advance where required

Clinic room bookings for in-person appointments will be managed by our administrative team

Training on our patient record system will be provided

Invoicing is required monthly

Travel and related expenses cannot be reimbursed
