The Role

HR/OD Business Partner Join a Team That Makes a Difference

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HROD practitioner to play a leading role in shaping, designing and delivering our workforce strategies. You will work proactively in partnership with the Directorate Management Team and key stakeholders to develop forwardlooking, directoratefocused strategies and plans that enable effective service delivery, continuous improvement, and transformation aligned to Tameside’s strategic outcomes.

You will be part of a professional, enthusiastic and motivated HROD team, working alongside Business Partners, wider HROD colleagues and supported by (and providing line management to) Assistant HR/OD Business Partners, offering expert advice, driving improvement and enabling our services to thrive.

You will need substantial professional experience and proven capability in the field, supported by a relevant CIPD qualification. You will also need to demonstrate the experience and confidence required to act as a strategic advisor in delivering the organisation’s People Strategy.

We are seeking an exceptional and highly skilled HROD professional to join us as the Strategic HROD Business Partner for Children’s and Education Services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading directoratespecific, peoplefocused projects and programmes, collaborating with senior leaders to influence, challenge and support delivery of strategic objectives.
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to the Directorate Management Team and ensuring a consistent, forwardlooking approach to people strategy priorities.
  • Leading complex change programmes including restructures, TUPE transfers and workforce transformationproviding strategic, tailored and businessfocused advice.
  • Contributing as part of the HROD Strategic Team to the overall development of the HR & OD function, advising, coaching and empowering managers to build engaged, resilient and highperforming teams.
  • Playing a key role in developing a modern, flexible and inclusive workforce by shaping and delivering workforce strategies that strengthen service effectiveness and support organisational priorities.

You will bring a high level of selfmotivation and a real sense of ownership, driving projects through to successful completion and working proactively on your own initiative. To thrive in this role, you’ll be a proactive and forwardthinking HR professional with strong generalist experience, uptodate knowledge of employment law and best practice, and the ability to apply strategic HR thinking to real service challenges. You’ll be a confident influencer, skilled at managing multiple priorities, and able to build strong relationships at all levels. CIPD qualification (or equivalent experience) will support you in bringing professional insight and credibility to the role.
