Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse – Full Time

40 hours per week | 1 in 4 weekends

We’re recruiting an experienced Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse to join a progressive, well-established veterinary nursing team within a modern small animal practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated RVN who enjoys leadership, thrives in a busy clinical environment, and is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care and client experience.

This role supports the Head Nurse in overseeing the day-to-day running of the nursing team, helping to drive clinical standards, efficiency, governance, and continuous improvement across the practice.

Working Pattern
  • 40 hours per week


  • 1 in 4 weekends

      The Role

      As Deputy Head Nurse, you’ll play a key part in both hands-on nursing and team leadership, supporting colleagues while maintaining high clinical and customer service standards.

      Key responsibilities include:

      • Supporting the Head Nurse with the organisation and smooth running of clinical activities


      • Leading by example on the floor with a varied and engaging caseload


      • Promoting best practice, patient safety, and clinical governance


      • Mentoring and supporting nurses, students, and support staff


      • Contributing to workflow efficiency, rotas, and continuous improvement initiatives


      • Delivering exceptional client communication and care
