Summary

About WPT
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we are fueled by a single commitment: 'We never knowingly do less for other people’s children than we would for our own.' As a thriving network of schools across South Yorkshire, we combine high expectations with embedded inclusivity. We do not work in silos; instead, we rely on deep collaboration and school-to-school support to ensure every student develops socially, emotionally, and academically to achieve the highest standards.
About the Role
As a Caretaker, you will be responsible for the security, safety, and general upkeep of the building, acting as the first point of contact for any premises issues in your area. This is a varied, hands-on role that involves everything from opening up in the morning and carrying out minor repairs to moving furniture and overseeing evening lettings. You will play a vital role in ensuring that the school environment is safe, compliant, and fit for purpose for both staff and students.
Responsibilities
Security & Safety: Ensure the security of the site (including opening/closing procedures and emergency call-outs) and maintain a safe environment through routine inspections and adherence to Health & Safety/COSHH regulations.
Maintenance & Systems: Carry out minor repairs and building system checks to ensure the site is fit for purpose, acting as the point of contact for contractors and directing them to repair locations.
Operations & Logistics: Undertake general porterage duties (moving furniture/equipment), manage the receipt of deliveries, and prepare the site for school lettings and daily activities.
Standards & Compliance: Ensure cleaning standards are maintained and keep accurate records of all maintenance, safety tests, and inspections.
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate must hold an NVQ Level 2 in a relevant field (e.g., Building Maintenance) or have relevant experience in the role.
