Special School | Ages 2–19 | Complex Needs (SLD, PMLD, SEMH, ASD)

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a specialist school in Slough, supporting children and young people aged 2–19 with a range of complex learning and additional needs. These include Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to helping children and young people with complex needs thrive academically, socially, and emotionally from early years through to post-16.

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will deliver highly personalised and engaging learning experiences tailored to pupils’ individual needs, abilities, and EHCP outcomes. Teaching takes place in small classes, supported by skilled teaching assistants and a multidisciplinary team, allowing you to focus on meaningful progress, communication, independence, and wellbeing.

You may work across a broad 2–19 age range, adapting your approach to meet pupils at different developmental stages, including early years, primary, secondary, and post-16 learners.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver differentiated, engaging lessons aligned with individual EHCP targets

Teach pupils with SLD, PMLD, SEMH, and ASD using creative, multisensory approaches

Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment

Use alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), where appropriate

Monitor progress and contribute to assessment and review processes

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and pastoral teams

Promote independence, confidence, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour

About You

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)

Experience working with pupils with SEN and complex needs is highly desirable

Understanding of ASD, SEMH, SLD and/or PMLD (training and support available)

Patient, flexible, and resilient, with a calm and nurturing approach

Strong commitment to inclusive, child-centred practice

Willingness to learn and develop specialist SEN skills

What the School Offers

Small class sizes with a high staff-to-pupil ratio

A well-resourced specialist setting tailored to pupil needs

Supportive leadership and a collaborative team ethos

Ongoing SEN-focused CPD and career development opportunities

The opportunity to make a meaningful, long-term impact on young people’s lives
